During initial conversation with the owners of this Moore Park property, they likened their backyard to a ‘moon landing’. So I quickly dropped a flag and got started.
The backyard wasn’t used due to a steep slope that made it difficult to access and over time invasive trees had established. We aimed to create a space they could immerse themselves in and enjoy all year.
The end result is a landscape that feels established, borrows good views from surrounding properties and gives the owners a cozy sitting area that brings their east coast love of nature into their backyard.
There are a lot of elements of this design that are not visible on the final result, which include a drip line and spray head irrigation system, gas lines as well as french drains - all elements that end up being so crucial to a successful design but are rarely promoted. The visible aspects are pictured here in year 1 of growth. Keep scrolling to see these, along with “before” and construction photos.
I’m very fortunate to have connected with these amazing people and to have changed their ‘moon landing’ in to a landscape that is still out of this world.
